Hello families,

Jesus Christ is Lord!  I hope you are well.  We are preparing to offer religious education classes again this fall.  Given the current state of the world, classes will look different this year.  (Note: some of the links did not carry over into this document so the links provided will have to be copied and pasted into your internet browser). 

We will adhere to the guidelines given to us by the Diocese of Green Bay.  This is to keep all who come here safe and healthy.

1. All classrooms will be sanitized before and after every class as well as all textbooks.  
2. The doorknobs, cabinets and countertops will also be sanitized before and after all classes.
3. The doors to the building will be sanitized before and after each class. 
4. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance and exit to building. When the weather permits we will also have hand sanitizer outside to use before touching the door handles on the way into the building. 
5. All catechists will wear masks or shields.
6. The number of students per classroom will be limited to 12 to ensure proper social distancing.
   1. Students in desks will be spaced out throughout the room and all facing the same direction.
   2. Rooms with tables will be limited to one student per table.
7. Masks are currently not required by the diocese for students but this may change.  We will keep you posted with any changes for any reasons.  Any student is welcome to wear a mask and encouraged to do so.
8. Any student who is sick in any way should remain at home.
9. Should anyone test positive we will suspend that entire group (Week A or Week B on either night or high school) for a minimum of two weeks and this will be communicated immediately to families.
10. Students will go directly to the classrooms.  No students will be permitted to stay in the narthex before or after class.
11. Parents who walk their children inside and/or pick them up inside will be required to wear masks.  

In order to keep the number of students in the building down, we will hold classes every other week.  Students will be split into two groups on Tuesday and two on Wednesday.  These will not be done by last name but in order they register (doing it by last name created too many issues).  An email will be sent no later than the week prior to the first class letting you know whether your children are in Week A or Week B.  As Wednesday tends to be more popular: if all 24 spots in a particular grade are taken on Wednesday, we are unable to accommodate any more and the only other options will be to switch to Tuesday or homeschool.  We will send out an email when a certain grade on Wednesday night reaches the 24 max (12 on A and 12 on B).  If there are less than 24 in a particular grade on Wednesday, we will split the students into two equal groups.  If you are able to make Tuesday work, please register for that day as there are fewer people on that day.  All classes will be an hour and a half to get more classroom time with the limited number of evenings available for in class sessions.  On the weeks students do not have class, we will provide family activities and/or videos to watch.  The schedule is attached which may help to visualize the Group A and Group B scenario. 

High school will have a slightly different schedule than grade school as their classes will remain relatively unaffected.  Confirmation students (those to be juniors) will follow the same schedule as the 9th and 10th grades.  As mentioned, these classes will be an hour and a half to match the class lengths of the lower grades. 

Homeschooling is always an option for any grade.  There are two ways in which you can homeschool: 1. We can give you books, lesson plans and teacher manuals (provided we have enough manuals) and you can go through the material each week. There is a fee to rent the books which will be $21.  2. Faith and Life (grade K-8) has an entirely digital option for $21 (you’d pay them not the parish) you can preview here: https://www.mycatholicfaithdelivered.com/home.aspx?pagename=Faith-and-Life. If you choose to homeschool, there is a place to mark that on the registration.  We’ll follow up with you to determine if you want to rent books or use the digital option. The digital option is only available for grades K-8.  High school students who choose to homeschool will be given lesson plans and PowerPoints on a flash drive.  Homeschool students will log the hours covered on a form that will be provided.

Please know that we are praying for you and for your family.  Many of you may be facing challenges that we do not know about.  If you have any special prayer intentions, please don’t hesitate to contact our team and we’ll add them to our prayers.

This is new and understanding how it works may be difficult.  Please read the email twice if something does not make sense.  If it still is confusing, feel free to email the staff and we’ll try to walk you through it.  If you would like to discuss it over the phone, please email someone on the staff with your phone number and a good time to call and we’ll call you as soon as we can. 

We will use Flocknote and the website to communicate to families.  We will not use different groups for faith formation on Flocknote.  Any communication will be sent to all families.
